Date set for Troy Fair Draft Horse Show

A large crowd enjoys a Troy Fair Draft Horse Show. This year’s show will take place on Sunday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gate 3 show arena.
The 26th Annual Troy Fair Draft Horse Show is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 22 at the Gate 3 show ring. The show will be the first for new coordinator, Tom Hojnowski, and he is looking forward to the support of draft horse owners and the folks coming to enjoy the show.
This will be the second year the Jenkins family is sponsoring the Farm Team class in memory of Edward “Mike” Jenkins, a long time horse owner and lover, who passed away last year. Judging this year’s show is Laura Heller, Cogan Station and the Ring Steward is Trista Gair, also of Cogan Station. The Troy Band Boosters will have the food booth open as they continue to fund raise for the band’s trip to Disney World in the spring of 2013.
The day’s events will begin with the halter classes and the naming of the Supreme Champion selected from all the Grand Champions, followed by the hitch classes. These begin with the cart classes then move on to 4-horse, Unicorn, Show and Farm Team and obstacle classes.
This year will be the second year of the exciting “feed scurry”. As two teamsters compete at the same time to see which one can pick up and deliver the feed the quickest the excitement grows, with the winner determined by who has the fastest time with the fewest penalties.
There is free admission to the show, free parking and free seating. All draft horse owners are encouraged to bring their horses and participate. Contact show coordinator Tom Hojnowski at (570) 673-4627 or visit troyfair.com for further information.
